The HMCS Moncton belongs to the Kingston class of vessels called Maritime Coastal Defence Vessels and measures 55 meters in length. The model measures approximately 18 inches in length. As with my other models, none of the parts were cast or store bought. Although time could be saved by casting I find the extra realism seems to appear when made individually. The design and use of various jiggs does however play a part and does save time when multiples of a certain parts are necessary such as stairways and ladders. The use of computers and scanners are convenient tools for making such items as the Coat of Arms badge that is displayed on the main mast and the name plates on the ship. |
