Scratchbuilding in Plastic

I have been a model builder for over 40 years. I got into the hobby as a
teenager
building model kits of cars, planes and ships. My main interest rested with
ships,
and after years of building kits and kit bashing, in 1987 I scratch built my
first all
plastic scale model. I found it a most rewarding challenge and decided that my
hobby would now be scratch building in plastic.
Although scale model building is primarily a hobby I have on occasion sold some
of my work and taken commissions to do certain projects. It is very gratifying
that
over the years the level of workmanship has reached a level where it is
requested
by others. Some of my work is now in the hands of private owners, manufacturers
and military departments.
Although model ships is my preference I enjoy the challenge of varying subjects
as
can been seen on this website.
Although polystyrene plastic card has been slow in acceptance, certainly in
model ship
field, the last few years has certainly brought it out to forefront as a
building material.
There is no denying the amount of detail that can be accomplished with
polystyrene and is
limited only by ones imagination.
The wonder of the internet has not only allowed one to promote their own work,
but
it has provided a great avenue to share that work with others of the same interest.
After enjoying
the many other sites that exist on scale modeling I hope this will also help in
promoting
scratchbuilding in plastic.
Check out these pages for more examples of the detail that can be
accomplished by scratch building in plastic.
